Frequently Asked

Questions

As the solution for your water restoration and mitigation needs, we strive to provide you with honest recommendations and quality work. We know how unfamiliar our industry can be until you need us – often unexpectedly – so we will work diligently to communicate with you through every step of the process. With that in mind, here are answers to our most frequently asked questions.

  • I have water in my home. Can you help?

We can absolutely help you remove the water from your property and restore the damage the water has caused. However, we are not a leak detection company or a plumber, so in order to prevent the incident from reoccurring, you need to ensure the leak has been fixed before we fix the damage. We don’t want you to have to pay to have your home restored from the same leak twice.

  • How much will your services cost? How quickly can you be at my property?

We are an emergency response company, so we are available 24/7/365 with a 90-minute response time. Cost is determined by a number of factors: the size of the affected area, what has caused the damage, how long the area has held moisture, the type of building materials used in your home, etc. That is why we cannot provide you with a cost for our services over the phone. We send IICRC-certified technicians to your home to evaluate the affected area and create an estimate specific to

    our property.

  • Will my homeowner’s insurance cover water damage?

The answer to that question is truly up to your discretion. All we need to begin work is the property owner’s signature, as the financially responsible party, authorizing us to start. Often people want to wait to involve insurance from the start, but in emergency situations, your insurance will appreciate you taking steps to mitigate damage immediately. In the water damage industry, waiting typically means the damage is worse.

We always recommend that, at the very least, we come out and do an inspection so you have an idea of the extent of the affected area and the costs associated with our services. If you do choose to involve your insurance – which will likely depend on the cost estimate – we will provide all of the information they request and work with them on pricing.

Often, though, water damage claims are not covered or entirely covered by homeowners insurance, so while we will work with insurance on the pricing, you are ultimately responsible for paying for the work performed, even if insurance doesn’t pay the full amount of the work.

If you do choose to contact your insurance company to begin a claim, they will want to know: what day and time the incident occurred, what happened, if a plumber has been to your home (they will require a professional report), if the home is in a livable condition, f the plumbing has been repaired if mitigation services have started.

  • What if my property requires testing?

To comply with EPA and other government regulations, we must test for hazardous materials and land biological organisms if there’s a potential they are present on a job site. For homes built prior to 1988, we require asbestos and lead testing by a third-party company to be done before demolition is performed. If mold is potentially found at a property, we also test via a third-party industry partner to confirm.

  • How long does it take mold to grow?

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, mold and mildew can begin growing in as little as 48 hours after a flood. That is why it is so crucial to, at the very least, have the cause of the water fixed and the water removed as quickly as possible. Waiting almost certainly will cost you more money when it comes to water mitigation and restoration.
